Lincolnshire Co-op 3-2 AFC West End

Foolish Defeat at Co-op

A rare defeat for West End came disappointingly at the hands of Lincolnshire Co-op who had been convincingly beaten at home just three weeks before. Dave Capps scored a bizarre goal aided by the curvature of the Sobraon goalmouth and an unexpected breeze to find the bottom corner, but this and a Rich Dungworth goal proved not enough for a point. Instead the Co-op took all three points as they put three goals past a bread-laden Richard Ossai.

Starting Line-up (4-4-2): Richard Ossai; Stephen Pearce, Shaun Hepple, Jonny Dyas, Jez Ashberry; Dave Capps, Gav Sumner, Phil Lodge, Lee Matsell; Sam McDonnell, Rich Dungworth

West End Hold Up Co-op

After the disappointment of last weekend’s defeat at Harpars, West End returned to winning ways with a convincing home win over Lincolnshire Co-op. Phil Lodge set the ball rolling with a well taken first half goal, before Dave Capps rounded off a great team move with a fine left foot finish into the top corner. Cappsy added a second goal before the end to wrap up a convincing 3-0 win for West End.

Starting Line-up (4-4-2): Alec Waby; Stephen Pearce, Shaun Hepple, Glen Wilson, Jez Ashberry; Dave Capps, Dan Hill, Joe Harper, Phil Lodge; Sam McDonnell, Rich Dungworth
Substitute: Harry Grimshaw

West End Breeze Past Poor Co-op

A patched up West End ran out comfortable winners against a below par Co-Op side. West End’s line-up had an unfamiliar look with Glen Wilson filling in for Adam Bierton in goal and debutant Phil Lodge slotting into the midfield. Anticipating a tough challenge against a team that they only managed a 1-1 draw with back in October West End were slightly surprised when they had almost the whole of the first half their own way. Johnny Dyas opened the scoring with his first goal of the season; a good finish into the roof of the net. It was 2-0 within minutes as Rich Dungworth got a toe onto a cross before volleying past the keeper; the goal was a stunning effort with Dungworth showing great control and great finish. The home side did not have it all their way and were pegged back to 2-1 before the break as indecision in the defence cost West End their two goal cushion. Read the rest of this entry

West End Match Co-op

West End dominated for long periods against the Co-Op without finishing the game off, and this eventually came back to haunt them. The visitors went ahead early on when Chris Dewey got on the end of a long ball, wrong-footed the goalkeeper and finished smartly. The game was close but West End continued to push forward knowing a second goal would kill the game. Rich Dungworth, Sam McDonnell and Dewey all had chances to put the game beyond doubt but none were taken and eventually Co-Op found a way back into the game.  Read the rest of this entry
