West End Show Their Metal As Inter Are Crushed
A faintly marked rain sodden Bishop Grosseteste pitch was the venue for AFC West End’s third pre season friendly, as they took on reformed division six side Inter FC.
Despite the awakward conditions, and the match being refereed by the two teams managers it proved to be a decent spectacle with AFC producing another impressive performance.

Inter Derail West End
Another midweek game and another depleted West End side made the short trip across Lincoln to face Inter FC at Sudbrooke Drive. In a scrappy game West End failed to make use of posession but were still level at the interval. In the second half Adam Bierton moved to the wing with Andy Kirk taking over in goal, and defying the odds to pull off a suprisingly great save to turn a long range lob onto the bar. Kirk was eventually beaten, but West End had chance to level when a free-kick fell to the feet of Glen Wilson, however he went for power not placement and pulled his effort wide.
Line-up (4-4-2): Adam Bierton; Mark Anderson, Shaun Hepple, Jonny Dyas, Chris Denman; Dave Capps, Glen Wilson, Andy Kirk, Damien Greenfield; Chris Dewey, Sam McDonnell
sub used; Rick Coates
Man of the Match: Jonny Dyas; solid performance
Dick of the Day: Glen Wilson; when you have the only chance of the game you have to put it away

Unbeaten Run Falls at Home to Inter
West End finally faced Inter FC, the only team they had yet to play in this season’s league programme. The home side were without Shaun Hepple, Matty Evans and Joe Harper giving starts to Jonny Dyas, Liam Phelan and Liam Collinwood. West End’s unfamiliar line-up saw them out of sorts in the first few minutes and they fell behind when an Inter forward found himself with a great deal of space on the edge of the box and placed a well hit shot passed Adam Bierton. With West End behind the tempo heightened; Chris Dewey was accused by the opposition of dangerous play, before being taken down from behind minutes later only to be accused of diving.
