Athletico Plough 0-3 AFC West End

West End Exact Revenge Over Hapless Plough

AFC West End made amends for their embarrassing early season home defeat to Athletico Plough with a dominant 3-0 win at Skellingthorpe Road. AFC were without Martin Robinson and Sam McDonnell but Rich Vickers returned to the side partnering Adie Gray in central defence. Managers Player of the Season (2010-11)

Dave Capps was brought to West End as a relief player during the clubs first competitive season, deputising in four games during Andy Kirk’s reign. Cappsy signed permanently in the following summer and has been an AFC player since. Happy go lucky Cappsy has come a  long way since he walked onto the West Common for a promised kick-about in November 2005 where he was greeted by the sight of his new team-mates searching through the undergrowth for sticks to use as net-pegs.

Last season Capps was named Managers Player of the Season following a string of workmanlike performances both in the heart of the West End midfield and also at full back. Cappsy poses a goal threat also and is currently the teams fifth highest goalscorer with 31. His bullet header winner against Trent Valley a particular highlight in 2010-11. These days Capps is a model footballer for anyone new to Sunday league football and he will be of great benefit to what is likely to be the youngest West End squad in years.
